God is in the house

i feel like i de-boarded the plane + went straight to the office. i have not even had a chance to go through my dad's, sister victoria's, or my photos of the wedding. i couldn’t wait much longer to post, so i took this from Katey's picts that she posted for all to see. thanks Katie! nice shots!

standing next to my brother, i felt a sense of peace and love i've felt only a few times in my life. i did not want the ceremony to end. to see a priest + rabbi stand next to each other to share blessings, share laughs, share words, share the mic…gave me a profound sense of what Ben + Melissa have accomplished. it was simply...beautiful. my words here only take away from how special this was for so many attending.

this day was a long time coming. to get there, Ben dodged mortar rounds from iraqi insurgents for the past year. Melissa, for the past year, dodged mortar rounds from a different kind of resistance. Together, they helped each other arrive safe, sound, + never looking better. Thinking of them smiling into each other eyes, brings tears to mine.

at the end of ceremony, the priest (name withheld for security reasons) said a prayer for the Catholics in attendance. in between his lines, rabbi Bernard spoke in Hebrew a prayer for the Jewish friends and family in attendance. the words were the exact same for both faiths. God was in the house.

i hope this coming weekend allows me a few moments to post more frozen memories of the night. jasper is also itching for his photo to be broadcasted again. his fans are complaining they are missing his daily morph into a little boy.

his friends are happy jasper is back in CA, as well is his father.
