evidence!

in response to this previous post, this 1987 photo (also the year the Joshua Tree was released) is proof of my brother ben and i's sacrifice for the house's warm fireplace. while my sister jessica organized her barbie doll collection, ben and i toiled in these harsh conditions with nearly frostbit apendages.

also note my brother's walking stick. i remember him being hurt, almost crippled in the tundra of our backyard, but still enduring the harsh conditions to provide the necessary supplies for the house's heat. we were lucky this day. there was only a few inches of snow instead of the normal several feet we had to shovel first just to get to the wood.

Amen Jose… that picture articulates a 1000 words. That was a light frosting compared to the other avalanches we struggled through. Great post Jose, keep them coming!!!

p.s. your father has to stop sending you pictures! I seem to think that maybe there was some doctoring going on here what with your amazing ability in the photo shop.

to all the readers: you cant see me because I have fallen 5 feet back gathering kindling for the fireplace. Thank God for mom coming out to save me about an hour later or else i would have perished in the snow. this was before brother ben learned you leave no man behind.

This pic makes me sad. I absolutely loved visiting your house and your family. The photo of the swingset is forever burned in my memory. Do you have an photos of the squirrel you lit on fire and blew up with fireworks?

Wow, that snow shovel sure can be multitasked for shovelling the horse s--- that is doubling as any recollection of firewood fetching in the good old days of Ohio living. Jessica was out of camera range outside stacking the firewood and .com_mom was shaking the fire down to make things comfortable for Ben and Joey when they came in for enormous quantities of hot chocolate and brownies. Bedeviled Ben (or Tiny Tim, as we called him) was limping slightly that day as a result of slipping in the kitchen while devouring the double sunday that .com_mom lovingly and frequently prepared. Yes, we had a winter wonderland in our backyard and its great to witness, between sled runs and cross country skiing exploits, the boys contributing to the wood burning stove when Jessica was in stacking mode.

I remember getting firewood in NH!! It stinks! Probably no coincidence that we both live in cities with no snow.
