sky diving with the Golden Knights
A little bit about the video: My good friend Matt, an actor, met the Golden Knights while filming Transformers 2. After the shoot, they asked Matt (and the cast of the new GI JOE film) if he wanted to jump with them sometime. Fortunately, when they asked if he was still on board to jump, they kindly said he could bring along a friend....and he was nice enough to ask me.
The original offer was that I would only watch, since the jumping slots were all called for. I'd be along for the ride and experience the day from the ground. however, when we met up in the morning, a few actors/producers either had cold feet or were hung-over from the previous night's Oscar festivities..allowing me to grab one of their slots.
The Knights flew us out of Burbank at 7am to Yuma, AZ where we trained for a few hours and watched their recent graduates practice maneuvers. By 3pm, Matt + i were the last to jump....hence the nervous laughter and desire to end the small talk to get up in the air.
It was one of those singular events in your life you will never forget. My adrenaline (and heart) was pounding so hard, that i forgot to say a quick prayer before jumping. I also knew my brother ben, a Marine Captain, would be proud!
We arrived back in Burbank by 6pm. My hats off to the Army and the Golden Knights. I meet some of the most professional, polite, and inspirational service members of this great country.
